One of our Leamington Spa Associates, Rev Richard Suffern, spent several weeks in Kenya with his family in July 2006 - during which time he set up a local partnership for us with the diocese of Kitale. In this area the national language Swahili is spoken, along with a regional language, Pokot. With financial help from Richard's church and a free British Airways ticket, one of the Kitale community workers, Selina Mayodi, spent a month in Leamington in June 2007 - working on translations and recordings in Pokot. Selina brought with her a wealth of knowledge about her country and people and it was a real privilege to be able to discuss how to improve the lessons for use in the field. As a result of her visit we now have a grand total of 12 lessons available in Pokot, which are already being used in villages in the Kitale area.
