Jane Furse hospital, Limpopo province

Our converted container classroom at the Jane Furse hospital (opened in July 2004) is open to patients and staff at the hospital, as well as to people from the surrounding area. The hospital has recently moved to a new site, which also necessitate the moving of the Starfish interactive classroom.

Although not strictly speaking designed to be mobile, the container classrooms can be moved if necessary - this was the first time this has been put into practice! Health outreach workers from the hospital translated and recorded the first 2 lessons in Northern Sotho. This is a model we would like to use more and more in the future - overseas partners are ideally placed to do this, and it has the advantage that the style of translation, accent of recording, etc are all completely familiar to the people who will be using the DVDs.
